Men on bikes use pepper spray to rob youth of ₹30 lakh


A 27-year-old man was attacked with pepper spray and robbed of ₹30 lakh by four unidentified men at Karaikudi in Sivaganga district on Sunday.  As per the police, S. Aravinthan, who was working in a private finance company after collecting ₹30 lakh from a jewellery shop, was travelling on his bike.  

When he was on Zahir Hussain Street, four men on two bikes hit his bike from the front and back side. As he collapsed and fell down on the ground, many rounds of pepper spray was used on him, added the police.  

As he lost balance and vision, miscreants took the cash and sped away from the location. He was then rescued by the public. 

The Karaikudi police have registered a case and investigation is under way.

Superintendent of Police Dongare Praveen Umesh has formed six special teams. DSP Parthiban and Karaikudi Town North Police Inspector Selvakumar inspected the scene of crime.
