A 22-year-old veterinary doctor was killed and her father injured when a speeding goods vehicle knocked down their scooter on MG road in Chikkaballapura on Friday (December 20, 2024).
The deceased has been identified as Yogitha, who was doing her internship in Bengaluru after completing her course in Hassan district, the police, said .
The deceased was heading to Bengaluru for the internship and getting dropped by her father Muniraju. While they were crossing MG road, a speeding canter knocked them down. The Duo fell on the ground and Yogitha sustained severe head injuries as she was not wearing helmet. The duo was rushed to hospital where the doctor declared Yogitha as brought dead.
The Chikkaballapura police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving and death due to negligence against the driver . He was arrested and the vehicle seized for further investigations .
Both the victims were not wearing helmet and Yogitha could have saved if she was wearing helmet, a police officer, said .
The volume of traffic on the stretch had increased due to ongoing road widening work and construction it was haphazard due to nonfunctional signal lights.
