Three killed as bike rams pilgrimage shelter wall in Nalgonda

A freak accident claimed three lives on Saturday (December 21, 2024) morning near an old place of worship in Devarakonda, Nalgonda district.

Around 6:45 a.m., a speeding bike swerved to avoid sheep on the road and crashed into a pilgrim shelter near the worship site. “The impact toppled a wall made of heavy cinder blocks, which fell on three individuals standing nearby, killing them instantly,” said the police.

The deceased were identified as Mohammed Haji, 56, a shop owner from Thatikole village, Mohammed Abdul Khader, 23, a hotel worker from Medipur, and Mohammed Nabeena, 25, a homemaker from Champapet, Hyderabad.

The shelter had been used by fair attendees earlier that night, most of whom had left by 4 a.m. “Haji and the others were standing with a two-wheeler when the wall collapsed on them after the crash,” added the police.
