Members of the All India Lawyers Union (AILU) and All India Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Advocates Association staged a joint demonstration outside the Madras High Court campus on Friday (December 20, 2024), demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his recent remarks with reference to Ambedkar in Parliament.

The protesters also condemned Allahabad High Court judge Shekhar Kumar Yadav for his remarks against Muslims, and raised slogans that there was no place for hate in a democracy.

Carrying portraits of Ambedkar, they also said that an insult to the Father of the Constitution was an insult to the country. The lawyers demanded the dismissal of Mr. Shah from the Union Cabinet if he does not resign.
